The City’s elected Officials and Staff have been entrusted with the responsible stewardship and financial management of the resources belonging to the community. As such, to sustain consistency, growth and quality of life within our community, City Officials and Staff are committed to positive long-range planning, effective management of resources, transparency, safety, and are receptive to innovative ideas. To promote efficient and effective proactive programs and focus on a vision to move the City forward towards a positive future.
The City Council is composed of Mayor Crystal Cardwell, Mayor Pro Tem Chris Raines, Council Members; Richard Sidebottom, Melanie Payne, Nathanial Butler and Jennifer Hill. They're elected by the citizens of the City of Newark as their representatives to make the legislative and policy decisions of the City, subject to the provisions of City Ordinances, Resolutions, Texas State Law, the Government Code and the Constitution of the United States of America
The City Council meets the Third Thursday of every month in the Multi-purpose room at 209 Hudson Street. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m.
